Port Charlotte and Englewood Areas Port Charlotte and Englewood are both quieter resorts about 45 minutes south of Sarasota. Port Charlotte is on the Myakka River with Englewood, gateway to the beaches of Manasota Key, about 25 minutes to the west. These areas offer accommodation in a relatively untouched area of the Gulf Coast.
